Planning for this Beast |
| |
Plan to spend a hella cash and a hella time. So
far, Impee3 has cost me about $600 (that includes wrong parts that
I never used). It all adds up after a while. Here's some good advice
that'll save you some money. Make a plan of what you want to buy
and where you can buy it for the cheapest amount. pctoday.com and
ebay are two good places to look for parts. Below is a table of
what I've bought, where from, and how much I've paid so far. |

This doesn't include cables and wasted money.
If you're strapped for cash, find generous friends and shop at used
computer stores. Here in Austin, good places to go are Goodwill
Computer Works and Logic Approach. Logic Approach has decently priced
stuff and a nice selection of new and used parts. Goodwill's good
for finding miscellaneous parts. I found a Reveal FM card there
for $3! They have some old sound cards and video cards and other
crap that you just can't live without. |
